I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister and a friend and I take pride in all these roles!
Crooks & Chaos is just basically a tagline for my life.
If I could be anywhere in the world it would be on a ball diamond, drinking a bud light and sharing laughs with some of my favourite people.
Actually, just sitting at home and doing absolutely nothing with my family is pretty awesome too! I live on coffee, sarcasm and alcohol. Interestingly, according to a lot of smart people, these are some of the worst things for me, but I seem to think I survive quite well on this diet.
I moved after graduating high school to St. Catharines, Ontario to attend Brock University. I was on a mission to cure cancer. After a month in BioMedical Science, I quickly realized university biology and chemistry were wayyyyy different than high school science. After a year in university, I realized, university was wayyyyy different than high school, period. So, I tried to drop out and take esthetics before second year, but my parents said…uh, no! Then, instead, I switched majors and graduated with a general arts major in Community Health Science, along with a minor in Psychology.
What does that mean? I still have no idea, but what I do know is, I have not cured cancer and I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up.
I did, however, learn through these studies, that mental, physical and emotional health are key components in living life to your fullest potential. A well balanced mind equation helps you with engaging and socializing positively in your community. Having even just one curve ball thrown into this mix to mess up this mental-physical-emotional trifecta, can have some pretty damaging effects on ones’ whole well-being.
Enter Motherhood!
Physically-you become an exhausted whale! Emotionally-you’re just a mixed mess of overwhelming, anxious, ecstatic and sad/happy feelings! Mentally-well, you’re just trying to keep it all together while keeping a small human alive. Is it any wonder moms go a little crazy in the first couple years of motherhood?!?!
What’s even worst is when becoming a mother does not come that easy for you. When my now husband and I first started dating, he felt the need to tell me that having a child could prove to be very difficult for us. This was not a deal breaker for me, despite his previous difficult and unsuccessful attempts at fathering a child. However, at the time I could not even begin to fathom what this journey would look like. I realize thinking we were going to end up down a road of infertility and the small obstacles we had to endure, were absolutely nothing compared to the battles that couples on this journey have to face daily. Whether you decided to use science, surrogacy, adoption or ultimately chose a life to spend with only each other, you guys are the true heroes in the parenting world!
